Qualities that make men attractive to women...

1. Good looks can be an advantage but... women typically choose good looking men for short term flings, not long term relationships. Look for someone "in your league." Men — and women — are attracted to people who are as attractive as they are.

2. Present yourself as high status. Why the attraction to assets? Evolutionary psychologists speculate it's because women want a mate who can provide for them.

3. Look older. Psychologists call it the "George Clooney Effect." As a 2010 study of 3,770 people suggested, women often prefer older men. As women become more financially independent, they say they like older guys even more.

4. Grow a light beard. In a 2013 Australian study, researchers had 351 women look at images of 10 men in one of four conditions: clean-shaven, light stubble, heavy stubble, or full beard. Results showed that women say the most attractive beard length is heavy stubble, which comes after about 10 days of growth.

5. Build muscle (but not too much). Less-muscular men were thought to be a better fit for long-term relationships. So if you want to catch a woman's eye and hold her attention, you may be better off building some muscle but not going overboard.

6. Be kind. One of the most robust findings in psychology is the halo effect, a bias where you unconsciously take one aspect of somebody as a proxy for their overall character. Even though beauty is an assessment of fitness, there is no reason why assessment of fitness needs to be purely physical, meaning that acting kind makes you look like you'd be a stable, worthwhile mate.

7. Wear red. A 2010 cross-cultural study — with participants from China, England, Germany, and the US — found that women are most attracted to men wearing red.

8. Make your partner laugh. Multiple studies indicate that women are more attracted to men who can make them laugh. Studies have shown that a man was three times as likely to get a woman's number when he'd told a joke. Plus he was rated more attractive and intelligent.

9. Researchers have found that owning a pet signals that you're nurturing and capable of making long-term commitments. It can also help you appear more relaxed, approachable, and happy.

10. Wear a scented deodorant. Simply knowing that you're wearing a new fragrance can make you act more confident, and even make you seem more attractive to other people. The strange part? When a group of women were shown silent videos of the men, they found those who were wearing scented spray more attractive, even though they obviously couldn't smell them. The researchers determined that the men using the scented spray displayed more confident behavior, which in turn made them more attractive.

Qualities that make women attractive to men...

1. Be curvy. Men prefer a larger waist to hip ratio of 7:10, one of the reasons being that a curvier bottom half is an important factor in child-bearing, indicating fertility. When men see a ratio they perceive to be favorable, they’re subconsciously thinking, “she can have my baby.”

2. Look alike. Research shows that longer lasting couples tend to look similar. This even includes interracial couples. As creepy as it may sound, people are typically attracted to other people who physically remind them of themselves.

3. Heighten your voice. In females, a higher pitched voice signifies youth and a smaller body. It also subconsciously reminds men that women are the fairer and more delicate sex, in need of providing and protecting by someone “stronger.”

4. Mimic his body language. According to a speed dating study, women who subtly mimicked their date scored higher evaluations at the end of the event. When doing this, it’s important to not be so obvious. If he runs his hands through his hair, wait a few minutes and “unconsciously” do the same (with the other hand.)

5. Look Symmetrical. The science behind the attractiveness of a symmetrical face and body, is that it indicates an individual has the genetic goods to survive, is healthy, and is a good and fertile choice for mating.

6. Hang out with girlfriends. Referred to as the cheerleader effect. A study at the University of California determined that “individual faces will seem more attractive when presented in a group because they will appear more similar to the average group face, which is more attractive than group members’ individual faces.”

7. Lengthen your hair. According to scientists, long lustrous healthy hair connotes health and fertility, whereas disheveled, unkempt hair is likely to decrease a woman’s facial attractiveness and their perceived health. Long hair is universally symbolic of femininity and grace.

8. Wear red. The colour red has been proven to enhance a man’s attraction to a woman because it makes them appear more sexually desirable. That’s not only exclusive to red form fitting clothes, but a red lip colour as well.

9. Smile. Smiling makes a woman 10 times more attractive to a man because it stimulates the sensory rewards circuit part of his brain. Smiles are disarming, which puts him at ease, making him more comfortable in your presence. Smiling will also make him think you like him (whether or not you do) and we’re all attracted to those who like us.

10. Less makeup. Studies have found both men and women find subjects with less makeup more attractive.
